Strategy 2030
Strategy 2030 is a comprehensive plan for the development of our University until the end of this decade. The document was prepared by the Rector’s Strategic Forum 3.0. Dozens of people representing our University community analyzed key challenges and helped define our shared priorities.
The document defines WUEB’s vision as a modern Economic University that combines high quality research and education with social responsibility and strong relations with the economic environment.
The strategy also includes operational goals, expected results and how they will be monitored in cyclical reviews. It provides a benchmark for projects and initiatives implemented as part of WUEB’s long-term development.
History of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business
A tradition since 1947
Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is more than a University – it is a place where we create space for development. Since 1947, we have been educating students who conquer the world with their knowledge and skills. Our graduates are ready to conquer the world of business and economics.
Our history is full of passion and commitment. We began our activities in 1947, continuing the traditions of the excellent universities of Lviv and Vilnius. Since then, we have been constantly evolving to meet the challenges of the modern world.

The story of a place
The history of WUEB was described by Tamara Chorążyczewska in her book Komandorska 118/120. The story of a place:
“In the winter of 1947. The first students of the Higher School of Economics gathered in the main building of the University of Wroclaw. February 3 prof. Vincent Styś delivered an inaugural lecture on Quesney’s economic theory. Thus began the history of today’s Wroclaw University of Economics and Business.”
Before the war:
The St. John’s Hospital. Wenzel-Hancke
WUEB’s current campus was built on the site of the pre-war St. John’s Hospital. Johann Wenzel-Hancke. Remnants of that era can still be found on campus today. The main gate from the 16th century and the brick buildings are the best visible, but monuments from the Breslau era also include gazebos, gazebos or the bas-relief over the entrance to Building B.
During the siege of Festung Breslau, heavy fighting took place in the south of the city. After the debris was cleaned up, the south of Wroclaw was covered with fields, meadows and wasteland. Until the 1970s. In the 1970s, the buildings of the former hospital were the only major buildings in the area.
Times of the Academy of Economics
1960s. i 70. is a time of intensive development of the university. In 1964. As part of the “Spring of Students” initiative, the first Economalia was held. In 1969. Branch in Jelenia Gora was launched, at that time also many new buildings were built (including SWFiS and dormitories), and computerization began.
With the inauguration of the 1974/1975 academic year, the EEZ was renamed as the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Economics. Oskar Lange. The unrealized plan to expand the campus area to include land extending all the way to Staff Street also dates from this period.

WUEB today
March 18, 2008. The Academy of Economics received a new name: the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business. It is worth mentioning that only universities with an academic category of A+, A or B+ in at least six scientific disciplines are authorized to use the word “university” in their name.
We are proud to continue the history of the Wroclaw University of Economics, which, although it has operated under different names, has presented a consistently high quality of research and education. During this time we have already educated about a hundred thousand graduates.
On March 1, 2024, the existing logo and corporate identity system of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (WUEB) were replaced with a new mark, color scheme and typeface.
The new visual identity system of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is one of the results of the Strategy 2030, which is being implemented from 2019. Strategy 2030. The changes include a refresh of the logo, typography and color scheme, which from now on will appear on official UEW materials.
