Sustainability at Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (WUEB)
Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of the University’s activities. WUEB responsibly pursues its mission for both the natural environment and society, integrating the principles of sustainable development into its research, teaching, and management practices. This is reflected in activities such as:
- responsible and efficient use of resources, and minimizing the University’s environmental impact,
- fostering responsible attitudes and behaviors,
- promoting efficient and sustainable use of natural resources,
- raising awareness of the impact of human activity on the environment,
- providing knowledge and tools that help reduce this impact.
How we act?
Wroclaw University of Economics and Business operates in alignment with global challenges, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainability is treated as an integral part of the University’s activities – encompassing education, research, and campus operations
Education
- development of study programs that incorporate sustainability topics,
- education of future leaders of responsible business,
- support for the development of competencies related to ESG and the green transition.
Research
- promotion of research that integrates sustainability principles across all areas of economic and social sciences – from finance and management to public policy and market behavior,
- collaboration with businesses and public institutions,
- development of solutions addressing real social and environmental challenges.
Campus and operations
- reduction of the University’s environmental impact through measuring and lowering its carbon footprint,
- promotion of energy efficiency and responsible resource management,
- implementation of best practices in mobility, waste management, and energy use.
Sustainability Office
The unit responsible for coordinating and supporting sustainability-related activities at Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is the Sustainability Office. Its responsibilities include:
- development and coordination of the Sustainability Development Plan,
- monitoring progress and reporting on activities,
- cooperation with stakeholders, including the organization, the Sustainability Forum,
- building awareness and engagement within the academic community.
