We are pleased to inform that a delegation from WUEB, comprising Prof. Bogusława Drelich-Skulska, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, along with colleagues dr hab. Katarzyna Miszczak, prof. WUEB and dr Anna Mempel-Śnieżyk, prof. WUEB, recently completed a productive visit to Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic.
The jointly prepared initiatives aim to contribute to the development of environmentally responsible innovation pathways, strengthening the capacity of regions to respond to climate and energy challenges while maintaining social cohesion and economic competitiveness.
Particular emphasis will be placed on fostering inclusive governance mechanisms, supporting equal access to development opportunities, and reinforcing regional resilience in the face of demographic, environmental and technological transitions.
Strategic meetings were held with Doc. RNDr. Jaroslav Koutský, PhD, Rector of UJEP, and Doc. Ing. Petr Hlaváček, PhD, Head of the Department of Regional Development and Public Administration, the Faculty of Social and Economic Studies. The discussions defined the framework for forthcoming Visegrad initiatives and strengthened bilateral research cooperation.
The primary outcomes of the visit include:
- V4 Grant Application: The foundations were laid, and a description was jointly prepared for a V4 Gen Mini-Grants proposal. WUEB will serve as the lead applicant, with the application scheduled for submission in March 2026.
- Future Collaboration Framework: Both Universities have agreed to pursue a larger-scale Visegrad Grant in the future jointly. This project will seek to expand our consortium by including partners from Slovakia and Hungary.
- Project Focus: The jointly prepared initiatives aim to strengthen regional capacities for sustainability-driven innovation, support socially inclusive governance models, and enhance territorial resilience in response to environmental, demographic and technological transitions.
