WUEB for a sustainable future. How the SDGs strengthen the university’s quality, relationships and competitive advantage

At Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, sustainable development is not just an ambitious goal – it is a lasting pillar of our strategy and everyday decisionmaking. The new report “Realisation of Sustainable Development Goals. Progress Report 2024” invites readers into the world of projects, policies and partnerships that position WUEB among the leaders of responsible transformation, recognised both in academia and in business.

Strategy in action

Our initiatives are the result of a carefully designed WUEB 2030 Strategy. Working on sustainable development is one of the seven strategic directions – on a par with scientific research, modern education, building international relations and digitalisation. As a result, the projects described in the report are not isolated – they form a coherent programme that is transforming the university’s environment on many levels.

Tangible results

The SDG 2024 report presents concrete outcomes:

  • Innovation in practice: Microhub Wrocław – the first low emission logistics centre in Poland, developed in cooperation with the city and market leaders.
  • Quality education: From scientific initiatives for children and young people, through digitisation of research output, to international competitions and educational projects with real reach.
  • A strong community: The Sustainable Development Forum and the participatory budget show how WUEB involves its community and partners in shaping new solutions.
  • Impact confirmed by data: In 2024 alone, our SDG related publications included: SDG 9 – 46 publications (WoS), 38 (Scopus); SDG 13 – 24 (WoS), 14 (Scopus); SDG 8 – 16 (WoS), 40 (Scopus).

Relationships that build advantage

Behind every project there are research teams, business practitioners, active students and social partners. For companies, public institutions, and NGOs, our report is a clear signal of readiness for cooperation based on knowledge, transparency, and mutual trust. Actions taken for the SDGs translate into the university’s competitive advantage – both in the eyes of partners and of international accreditation bodies.

The WUEB Sustainable Development Office has already started work on the next edition of the SDG report, which will be prepared in close alignment with the updated WUEB 2030 Strategy.

We invite you to read the SDG 2024 report. It is an overview of WUEB initiatives that are changing reality.
