Strategic alliance with the University of Palermo. Double degree and new research horizons

Prof. Czesław Zając (Rektor UEW) i prof. Enzo Scannella (University of Palermo)

In an era of growing internationalisation in research and teaching, the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (WUEB) is taking another significant step in building European alliances.

We were honoured to welcome a delegation from the University of Palermo (Università degli Studi di Palermo – UNIPA) to our campus. The visit, crowned by a meeting between prof. Enzo Scanella and Rector prof. Czesław Zając, officially marks the start of the operational phase of our cooperation.

The focal point of the discussions was the implementation of the Double Degree Programme. This initiative turns the formal provisions of the agreement into a tangible career pathway for our students.

Thanks to the partnership, students of Business Management (WUEB) and Scienze Economico-aziendali (UNIPA) gain a unique opportunity: by completing part of their studies at the partner institution, they will obtain two master’s degrees based on a single thesis defence in English.

During the visit, academic coordinators and university leadership discussed the details of the mobility scheme, which provides for the completion of the key third semester of studies in the international academic environment of Palermo.

The visit of our partners from Italy was also an opportunity to discuss forms of cooperation that go beyond the classroom. In line with the spirit of the agreement, both sides declared their readiness to intensify activities in the field of research and scientific cooperation.

The following joint initiatives were discussed, among others:

  • exchange of academic staff for guest lectures and joint research,
  • organisation of international conferences and seminars,
  • collaborative publishing in the fields of economics and management.

The partnership with the University of Palermo confirms that UEW is consistently pursuing its strategy of opening up to the world, offering students and staff education and research of a quality aligned with international standards.
