Green Effects of the Climate Academy 2.0 Already Visible on Our Campus!

On June 4th, the second edition of the English-language event Climate Academy took place at the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business. This year, we promoted sustainability and eco-friendly attitudes through creative workshops, with their results already visible on our campus.

Integration of the Academic Community

The Climate Academy 2.0 – Creativity Booster for Planet, Campus, and You event brought together nearly 60 participants, including students and staff from Wrocław’s universities, as well as students visiting Wrocław as a part of the Erasmus program.

Talks by Business Practitioners

In the first part of the event, we listened to representatives from the business sector. Joanna Bagińska from Mustela discussed the origins of sustainable business in times of excessive consumerism, while Marek Denys from Biotreco presented possibilities for plant-based alternatives in our diets.

Collaboration with an Art Academy – A Different Perspective on Sustainability

During the talks, we also heard an inspiring lecture by Fania Kolaiti, a doctoral student from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design, who shared how art engages in discussions about climate protection and how artists respond to challenges related to preserving our planet’s resources. This offered us a fresh perspective on sustainability distinct from our usual economic viewpoint.

Practical and Creative for the Climate!

In the second part of Climate Academy, participants took part in three hands-on workshops. The first group, guided by our speaker from the Academy of Art and Design, designed collage posters encouraging environmental care, which will soon be visible in the university hallways. The second group, supported by our sponsor Leroy Merlin, created plant compositions that not only beautified the campus but also enhanced its biodiversity. The third workshop group participated in a creative session, developing slogans encouraging sustainable actions that were then placed on signs in pots with the new plant compositions. As a result, the campus is now more colorful, and sustainability-related messages motivate on an everyday basis tall UEW students and staff to more eco-friendly choices.

The event was organized by the University’s Green Team in collaboration with the Rector’s Representative for the International School. We invite you to participate in future editions of the Climate Academy!
