Can we still afford economic policy decisions taken “by feel” and through the logic of conflict, instead of being grounded in research evidence? This is the question addressed in an appeal by three economists published in Rzeczpospolita under the title “Gorynia, Ko\u015bny, Hardt: Let us turn to economics”. The article is co\u2011authored by Professor Marek Ko\u015bny, Vice\u2011Rector for Research at Wroc\u0142aw University of Economics and Business.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors \u2013 Professors Marian Gorynia, \u0141ukasz Hardt and Marek Ko\u015bny<\/strong> \u2013 call on both government and opposition to base political disputes over the economy on hard data, research findings and the achievements of Polish economics<\/strong>. They argue that in a context of geopolitical uncertainty and the exhaustion of previous growth engines, Poland needs a coherent, long\u2011term development strategy built on investment in human capital, innovation and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Wroc\u0142aw University of Economics and Business, this is not only a distinction, but also a responsibility: the voices of our researchers are helping to shape the nationwide debate on the directions of economic policy for the coming years. The appeal published in Rzeczpospolita forms part of a broader process of involving economists in designing public policies \u2013 from the local to the national level \u2013 with a view to the shape of the Polish economy in five, ten and more years\u2019 time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
